Thank You:
To the Players, Sponsors and Fans of Ice Hockey in Singapore,

On behalf of the Singapore National Ice Hockey League and the Tournament Committee, we would like to thank everyone for their participation and support of the 2005 Singapore Invitational Ice Hockey Tournament.

This year we saw record attendance, with an estimated 2000 people attending over the course of the 3 day event and more than 500 fans taking in the International Division Final. Players traveled from as far as the Middle East, Japan and Australia to compete in a grueling competition that saw many close and exciting games.

Players were treated to a welcome bash at the Bungee Bar, Clarke Quay sponsored by San Miguel on Thursday evening, which was very well attended and left some players still finding their heads for Friday’s 7am games.

Player’s wives and girlfriends, our biggest supporters, were also treated right this year as London cabs picked them up from the Novotel Clarke Quay, our sponsor hotel, and ferried them to a scrumptious luncheon held at Sebastien’s Restaurant at Greenwood Terrace, all free of charge!

On the ice, the Asian division saw great competition with The Hong Kong All Stars headed by Keith Fong dismantling the competition throughout the tournament then shutting down the host and reigning champion Singapore Ice Cats in a 3-1 Asian Final victory.

The International division saw some of the closest and hardest fought hockey in the region over the past few years. Fate would see both undefeated teams, the Bangkok Flying Farangs and the Singapore Chilly Crabs meeting in the Brewerkz Cup Final with the Farangs edging out the Chilly Crabs 1-0 in a truly exciting finish. The Tokyo Canadians battled a combined Hong Kong All Stars/Singapore Rusty Blades team to capture the Consolation Cup 3-2.

As on-ice activities wrapped-up, off-ice activities were just getting started as Brewerkz hosted the tournament’s largest-ever banquet, with nearly 300 guests attending, crushing
an estimated 180 from years before. The night continued on long and hard for many, and for some it made that long flight home just that much longer!

Again, we thank-you for all your support, compliments and comments. We truly hope to see you here again next year for an even-better 2006 edition!!

The next regional tournament will be the World Ice Hockey 5’s held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia May 11th to 14th.
